ABOUT NYACK 2030

A Local Initiative to Address Climate Change

The Nyack 2030 initiative organizes, facilitates and promotes local climate action in the greater Nyacks. The Village of Nyack and community partners collaborate to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 75% by 2030, better protect natural resources, and adapt to climate change.

Nyack Climate Smart Committee and the Nyack 2030 Climate Action Plan

The Village of Nyack’s Sustainability Coordinator and Climate Smart Committee keep this network connected. They organize projects according to the goals laid out in the Nyack 2030 Climate Action Plan, adopted in January 2024.

The Climate Action Plan details goals and actions for the Nyack community and Village government provides detailed action lists for reducing emissions and improving environmental protections in four focus areas— Transportation, Energy & Built Environment, Waste, and Natural Resources. The emissions reduction goals are based on greenhouse gas inventories using local data from 2018 as a baseline. We will benchmark our progress starting with a new inventory in 2025 with data from 2024.
